On Wednesday night in London, some of the brightest stars in modern music gathered for the annual NME awards. Awards went to Kasabian, Alex Turner and Jake Bugg amongst others, so congratulations to them! But who were the real winners in terms of style? There was plenty of fantastically eccentric fashion to choose from!

Charli XCX chose a vivid purple silk slip dress, combining it with a leopard fur coat and fluffy slip-ons for a look that was equal parts crazy and sexy. She switched things a little more towards the sexy side for her performance later on, changing to an even shorter slip dress, this time in black.

Singer Florence Welch wore a floor-length dress in her signature floaty, ethereal style. The translucent full-sleeved layer overlaying the blue-grey slip dress was covered in tiny flowers for a gorgeous £D effect. Never one to keep things minimal, she also added a jumble of necklaces.

TV presenter Laura Whitmore went for completely the opposite approach in a sleek black jumpsuit that elegantly grazed the ground. The draped front was cut low for a flash of skin in an otherwise very modest outfit.

Millie Mackintosh also went for a plainer outfit, opting for an LBD worn with a black leather jacket – a classic combination, but definitely not a boring one!

If you’re curious as to the winners of the actual NME awards, here’s a quick roundup:

  • Worst Band – 5 Seconds of Summer
  • Villain of the Year – Nigel Farage
  • Godlike Genius – Suede
  • Best British Band – Kasabian
  • Best Live Band – Royal Blood
  • Hero of the Year – Alex Turner
  • Best Solo Artist – Jake Bugg
  • Best International Band – Foo Fighters
  • Best Track – Jamie T (Zombie)
  • Dancefloor Anthem – Fancy (Iggy Azalea & Charli XCX)

But back to the most important question – who won the award for Best Red Carpet Style?
