Is this the world’s most glamorous charity event? The American Foundation for Aids Research is one of the most high-profile AIDS charities currently in operation, and has been holding its ultra-glamorous galas since 1993. They have chosen exotic locations al around the world (including New York in February 2015), with the most recent being Hong Kong. Stars from all over the world flew in – to give an idea of the guest list’s calibre, Gwyneth Paltrow was the honorary chair. This was a seriously star-studded event, and the glamour was unbeatable!
Host Gwyneth wore an elegant deep blue gown with cut outs to the size, and a flatteringly gathered waist. The silhouette was otherwise very plain, with a high neckline and quite boxy fit. What really made her dress special were the oversized beads attached to the skirt and around the neckline.
Supermodel Naomi Campbell dressed in a stunning burgundy beaded gown with a sheer black panel covering the plunging neckline. She added even more sparkle with a huge diamond bracelet.
Victoria Beckham wore a white dress from her own clothing line. In her signature minimalist style, it featured very little embellishment and no sparkle at all, but it did make use of gorgeous fabric and an unusual cut.
Carina Lau was one of the most glamorous guests at the event, wearing a stunning deep orange silk gown. A beaded neckline, and a pair of large earrings added glitter to Carina’s look, but the rich colour and elegant silhouette of this dress would have made it a standout look all on its own!
Kate Moss wore a dramatic 1920s-style ensemble, made up of a loose black beaded dress and a short feathered cape. Her necklace and bracelet were in a similarly vintage style. Also dressed in black, Paris Hilton opted for a bodycon maxi dress with unusual geometric cut-outs.
Finally, Cathy Tsui Lee wore an incredibly beautiful soft grey dress made up of layered tulle, and covered in hundreds of pearls. She looked absolutely stunning, and the dress was an ethereal masterpiece.
