Cinderella premiered in Australia yesterday, where the guest of honour was veteran Australian actress Cate Blanchett. She dressed beautifully in a lilac and pink striped dress that was bold without overwhelming her pale skin and hair. The disjointed stripes added an extra touch of interest to the print. She kept everything else simple, with plain black pumps, a loose updo, and pretty pink makeup.
Cate may have been the most famous name on the red carpet, but there were plenty of other Australian stars in attendance. Blogger and model Nikki Phillips wore a beaded strapless top with a pair of tailored black trousers for a look that managed to be both classic and modern at once. She shows just how easy it is to turn a work-wear staple into a stunning evening outfit – time to get your office trousers out at the weekend!
Another spin on red carpet formalwear came from Chloe Boreham. Instead of a predictable gown or cocktail dress, Chloe opted for a loose-fitting navy blue jumpsuit. Her outfit looked cool and comfortable, but was still glamorous enough to fit in alongside all the more conventional dresses. The dark, classic colour also helped the silver and copper tones of her necklace to stand out.
Erin Holland, a former Miss World Australia, looked pretty and polished in a black and white full-skirted dress. She played up the retro feel with side-swept hair and vivid red lipstick, but kept things modern with a deep v-neck and a gauzy sheer panel on the skirt.
Whose red carpet style do you like best? Are you heading to see Cinderella?
