Luxury Italian fashion brand Fendi clearly weren’t worried about unlucky Friday 13th – they chose the day to open their new flagship store in New York. Founded in 1925 in Rome, Fendi is one of the world’s leading luxury design houses, so an international-standard flagship store in New York seemed like a logical step
Fendi is a long-term celeb favourite, and a lot of big stars from the fashion and entertainment industries turned out to support the launch. Rihanna was probably the most glamorously dressed guest in a stunning brown sequin maxi dress and pale pink fur coat. Her presence was no surprise – she already has ties to the company, having recently designed a Fendi Baguette bag for their 3Baguette charity project.
Other famous faces included Rosario Dawson, Olivia Palermo, Jourdan Dunn, Naomi Campbell, Rachel Zoe, Sarah Jessica Parker, Hailee Steinfeld and Zoe Kravitz. Most of the guests opted to wear outfits either from recent Fendi collections, or inspired by the brightly coloured, bohemian, 70s-influenced looks that Fendi does so well. Rosario Dawson, for example, wore an ensemble from Fendi Pre-Fall 2015m while Olivia Palermo’s printed dress was from Fendi Spring 2015. There were plenty of bold prints and warm earth colours on show – Fendi must love how wholeheartedly their style has been adopted by some of the world’s most fashionable people!
A few of the outfits were a little more low-key than Rihanna’s; Jourdan Dunn opted for track pants, while Sarah Jessica Parker kept her tailored jacket toned down with simple fitted cropped trousers. Overall, however, it was a seriously glamorous event, fitting of a company with nearly a century’s experience in fashion.
Will you be going to visit the new Fendi store? And whose outfit do you prefer – Rihanna’s glam or Jourdan’s casual comfort?
