For once, it’s not Lady Gaga’s crazy outfits or music making news, but her personal life – the singer has broken the news that she and actor Taylor Kinney got engaged on Valentine’s Day! The couple have been together on and off since 2011, when they met on the set of Lady Gaga’s video for You and I. They had a brief break in 2012, but since then their relationship has gone from strength to strength, and now they plan to make things really serious by getting married.
While Lady Gaga is the most famous of the pair, you may well recognise Taylor from a few of his best-known roles, including stints in The Vampire Diaries and Chicago Fire, as well as a leading role alongside Cameron Diaz in last year’s The Other Woman.
Taylor popped the question on Saturday, Valentine’s Day, and the newly engaged couple then celebrated in the singer’s family restaurant, Joanne Trattoria, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. They were joined by Lady Gaga’s parents, who by all accounts seemed absolutely delighted with the news.
Lady Gaga showed off her beautiful new heart-shaped engagement ring on Instagram, while Taylor posted pictures of the happy couple. The singer captioned the photo of her stunning ring with the words “He gave me his heart on Valentine’s Day, and I said YES!”
They have both spoken gushingly about each other over recent months. Last April, Taylor said of his now-fiancée: “I love what she does and her work and music and charity. She inspires so many people including myself.”
