After a month of award shows and celebrity parties in Hollywood, the biggest and best award show is finally here – the Oscars! The Oscars (officially the Academy Awards) are always the highlight of the awards season. They are the awards everyone wants to win, and the ceremony gets more celebrity guests than any other. It was incredibly hard to narrow down the huge variety of beautiful dresses, but here are just a few highlights!

Lady Gaga and Keira Knightley posed together on the red carpet, both looking stunning in full-skirted formal gowns. Keira’s beautiful Valentino dress was a far cry from most maternity styles, with layers of soft-toned tulle and delicate floral embellishments. Lady Gaga’s dress was plain white with hints of red, and she paired it with simple and elegant hair and makeup.

Rosamund Pike, with newly brunette hair, looked stunning in a bold red dress covered in imitation rose petals. The rich colour and gorgeous texture meant that it hardly needed any accessorizing at all!

Chloe Grace Moretz wore a beautiful old-fashioned strapless gown in a gold floral print. Viola Davis wore stunning off-the-shoulder silvery white satin.

Jennifer Lopez wore one of the biggest gowns of the night – a full-skirted peach beauty covered in lavish beading. Felicity Jones went for a similarly full-skirted gown, although hers was silver, with a draped skirt and richly embroidered bodice.

Rising star Jamie Chung was at the Oscars for the first time, and chose a stunning black and nude mesh dress. Zendaya was also on the red carpet, in a gorgeous silky white dress, and casual hair styled in cascading twists. Zoe Saldana wore a fitted dress in pale blush pink, with a delicately draped skirt.

Emma Stone and Scarlett Johansson both chose green, although Emma was in chartreuse lace, and Scarlett was in emerald satin. Emma’s dress was covered in sparkling beads, while Scarlett’s dress itself was very simple, but set off by a stunning matching necklace.

Chrissy Teigen posed alongside her husband John Legend. The model wore a gorgeous pale blue dress with a high slit and delicately beaded bodice.

Finally, mother and daughter Melanie Griffiths and Dakota Johnson posed together as they entered the Academy Awards. Melanie wore black, while Dakota was in a bright red one-shouldered dress with the thigh-high slit that seems to be fast becoming her signature.

Whose outfit do you like best? Were any of these red carpet choices a surprise?
