READ MORE: The alternative Oscars? See the best-dressed at the Independent Spirit Awards!
The Oscars are very nearly here (just a few hours as I’m writing this!), but awards season wouldn’t be complete without a full round of pre-Oscar parties. One of the biggest events is the Weinstein pre-Oscar party, which this year was hosted in association with FIJI Water and MAC makeup. Everyone who’s anyone is in Hollywood this weekend, and more than a few of the top stars made it along to the Weinstein party. Obviously, everyone will have been saving up their best outfits for the Academy Awards (don’t worry, we’ll be giving you a full rundown of the best Oscar dresses), but there was still a lot of glamour on the pre-party red carpet.
Keira Knightly, who’s been busily promoting her film The Imitation Game despite being heavily pregnant, looked absolutely glowing in a pretty black and white gown. She’s stuck to very feminine, flowery dresses in loose shapes for this award season, and this dress was fairly similar to a few she’s already worn. In my opinion the plain black and white works far better than some of the floral prints we’ve already seen.
In a very different style, Jennifer Lopez went for the 70s-influenced glamour that’s become her trademark. She wore a silky white gown with slicked-back hair and golden makeup. Rita Ora also opted for white, although she wore an ethereal white lace dress with layers of ruffles, and white hair to match.
Selena Gomez wore a much more toned-down outfit, sticking to a plain navy blue shift dress that was a world away from her recent boho-influenced looks. Jennifer Hudson also kept things simple in terms of silhouette and embellishment, but her mini dress was in such a punchy bold orange that it really didn’t need anything extra!
So, which look do you like best? Selena’s simplicity, Jennifer’s glamour, or Keira’s ruffles?
Don’t forget to check back for the best of the Oscars fashion in just a few hours!
